On Wednesday, Nov. 11, the frontage road turnaround under US 59 on the north side of New Boston Road (US 82) will be opened. This means motorist needing to get from the southbound frontage road on US 59 to the northbound frontage road will be able to use the turnaround without having to go through the signal lights on New Boston Road.
The frontage road turnaround on the west side of Summerhill Road (SH 93) will also be opened on Wednesday. This means motorists needing to get from the eastbound frontage road on I-30 to the westbound frontage road will be able to use the turnaround without having to go through the signal lights on Summerhill Road.
On Thursday, Nov. 12, the exit ramp from eastbound I-30 to Richmond Road (FM 559) will be temporarily relocated from it current location to just east of Kings Highway (FM 989). I-30 Motorists needing to reach Richmond Road will take the exit just past Kings Highway and go down the frontage road down past the New Boston Road turnaround and back up to Richmond Road. A permanent exit will be constructed closer to Richmond Road once the bridges crossing I-30 at the US 59 interchange are removed. Motorists needing to get to Richmond Road from US 59 northbound will need to take the New Boston Road exit and follow the frontage road to Richmond Road.
Also on Thursday, concrete barriers will be placed at the St. Michaels Medical Center which will block access to the hospital near the temporary I-30 exit ramp. Motorists needing to

access the hospital will need to take the west bound frontage road from Summerhill Road and use the entrance before the temporary exit ramp or use the access points from Cowhorn Creek Road.
On Friday, Nov. 13, the flyover connection between northbound US 59 and I-30 eastbound will open along with a new exit ramp from US 59 to the eastbound frontage road. Motorists needing to go eastbound on I-30 will need only to take the flyover directly to I-30. Motorists needing to go westbound on I-30 will need to take the flyover to I-30 eastbound and then take the Summerhill Road exit, follow the frontage road turnaround at Summerhill Road to get back on the westbound frontage road and then take the entrance ramp on to I-30 westbound near Richmond Road. Motorists needing to get to Richmond Road from US 59 will need to take the new exit ramp onto the frontage road just before the flyover begins and follow the frontage road to Richmond Road.
“This is a lot of changes in traffic patterns in a short period of time. We ask that local motorists use extra caution driving in and around the construction zones as other motorists unfamiliar with the area may try to find alternate routes,” Icenhower said. “Detour schedules can also change due to unexpected problems and adverse weather conditions, but we will try to keep traffic moving as efficiently as possible.”
